I'm just about to watch her do her final run (they're replaying it on TV here..). Conditions look good down there. Great race.

Three seconds..wow..killed it.

Insane time gap.

I don't have form that good on green groomers. Even in my imagination.

I'm not sure what her intent is for this season but I'm sure she's going to be competing, at a very high level.
That particular run was jaw dropping!

Catches an edge out of the gate today and still crushes everyone by 2.5 seconds.

I almost think that LV is hoping MS doesn't figure out speed events. Remember, LV started as a slalom specialist as well and didn't have her fist WC win till like age 25. Shriffron is 20.

Three seconds against the rest of the world in that event is nuts.

What an unbelievable racer. Two WC slalom wins in two days and both by an eternity in slalom racing. Ski Racing says she will run Super G this year, so Slalom,GS and SG. The austrians must be saying......(well actually ther're sort of quiet)......damn.........another American from those little tiny mountain on the East Coast.:beercheer: grab your snack and watch this.

Makes you wonder how they'll change the rules this time to try to defeat an American.

To win by 2.5 seconds when races are usually won my hundreds of a second..Stenmark-esque.

Whatever her intentions are, Mikaela Shiffrin is making ski racing exciting . Just watching her dominate in slalom and being a threat in giant slalom is awesome.

I am pretty sure that she wants the overall. It is not a matter if it is going to happen. It is a matter of when it will happen (yes, I am being an optimist).

She is racing her very first World Cup super g this weekend. If she does good enough in this discipline, those extra points could put her in a run for the overall.

Also this would open up the door for super combined races.

I just hope she doesn't get injured racing one of the speed events. Those events tend work better for older bodies.

Given she's had a lot of speed training under her belt these past few seasons, and she and her coaching staff have waited for her to mature a bit on the World Cup, I think she isn't at any great risk than her fellow racers. Watching her ski GS at Aspen showed how much work she's put into her higher-speed turns: more aggressive moves down the hill, less bobbing up and down compared to last season. She should be competitive, though I'm not expecting top-10 her first race in Lake Louise.

But she should be fine. If anything, she's in better physical shape than 90 percent of the World Cup field - incredibly disciplined athlete, Mikaela Shiffrin.
