Looking at the weather reports, gonna be sketchy along the southern PA stretch. Predicted temperatures have actually bumped up for Friday and Saturday. Could be more like water skiing at demo days at Whitetail and Roundtop.

I'd say that Friday is shading more toward "unreasonable" than "reasonable". :(

I'm starting to look further afield... Elk perhaps.

Believe it or not, skiing in the pouring rain can actually be hella fun if it's a warm, 40-50 degree rain instead of a brutal 35 degree rain. Look at it this way.. I skied bell to bell last Saturday in the rain mostly because I am thinking that at this rate all the snow will be gone very soon and that might have been my last opportunity to get in some solid hours on snow,,, even in the rain. It did help to have three jackets/pants/gloves/socks and on the mountain lodging to dry off and change between ski sessions. Three long ski sessions with two medium breaks to dry off made it quite enjoyable all in all..

I'm guessing your local days were better than the 4 Tahoe days. ( Formerly from MD -now Tahoe area here)

Tahoe has gone from bad to worse December, January, February with spring skiing $ ice. Heading into the worst or
2nd worse drought in history. No snow, other than dustings, expected in next 2 weeks. :nono:

UT & central/north Colorado at least are finally getting snow.

It was not great, but I had booked the trip in August in conjunction with a work trip and visit of some family, so I had other reasons to be in CA. My wife was with me so we still made the best of the trip. I've been following BA on Open Snow and it has been brutal for winter for Tahoe. I was thinking about stopping by Tahoe this weekend while flying through for business, but abandoned those plans several weeks ago.

well, whatever one enjoys I suppose. But no thanks , Im not skiing in the rain. Aittle drizzle I suppose yes, but rain? Nah, been there done that and imo not much to enjoy. But you found it good enough and that's what counts.

Ya if I'm not staying on the mountain and there is rain in the forecast with no chance of a break I'm bailing on the trip. If it's a little iffy and I arrive for a day trip I may go ahead and ski for an hour after driving three to get there. But, after that, with no full change of clothes or private lodging to hang out at and dry off then change clothes for another session I just sit my soggy ass back in the car and drive home.. Well, I'd kick off the ski pants first.. usually have jeans or lounge pants in under ski pants or a fart bag if I'm day tripping. Like to ditch the ski pants or fart bag for the trip home regardless of if it's soaked or not..

That's OK, that works for fat ski demos, esp. Sierra cement ski demos.

Same here. Herself is in NV right now and ...it's sad.

Being a mid Atlantic venue, I'm not getting my hopes up for fats, especially on the short end of the spectrum. My experience is the reps carry a very limited number of each style and rarely have performance skis in the 165-172 cm range. Heck, most manufacturers don't make higher end skis that short.

BTW... in addition to demos at Whitetail on Friday, there'll be demos at Roundtop on Saturday.

Hmm... That's not an unusual size range I don't think... I'd guess almost every ski exists in that range. I skied a bunch of Stockli's earlier this season at the demo day around 170. My regular skis are 174, and I think they were only made in one size larger.

Maybe reps just haven't been bringing them, but they should be out there.

Entertaining a trip to Catskills on Sunday. Since it’s a holiday weekend, was contemplating the least crowded of the Catskills.......Plattekill.

Anybody have a local report from up there lately?......

Conditions are good at Blue. From the looks of the trees this morning they blew snow last night.

Kinda spring like at 43 degrees. Soft but no stickiness.
Went to CB today, on the slope by 9:30 AM lots of marbles and frozen corduroy but by 11:00 it softened up. No crowds, got on they chair as soon as I got there, burned my legs out by 2:30 PM

Whitetail on Friday is iffy; forecast is for rain Thursday night to Friday noon. Roundtop on Saturday is a definite.

Sunday is a possibility for me. Depends on how things work out on Saturday. I'm definitely going to Roundtop early to catch the demo day there. Both my sons are considering coming up for night skiing and I may try to hang in to get some runs in with them. I may be too beat to head out on Sunday.

What about Roundtop on Saturday?
