Looking for a mid-80 waist ski, R 14.8-15-8, for 4-12" over groomer days (yeah, micro-niche); currently looking at Head V-shape V-10 and K2 Pinnacle 88. Sounds like the V-10 is a little stiffer than the Pinnacle, which I would probably prefer given the criteria. Any other recos?
I'm 6'1" 163 lbs, free-heeler with many years experience but well into geezer-dom, prefer carving to slarving.

COMPLETELY different animals. V-Shape is a wiiiiiiide carver. For the 4-12", of these two, the Pinnacle 88.

And that's the dilemma isn't it? 4" over a firm base is definitely carvable, but 12" is transitioning to floatable. Let's go phemto-niche: 4-8" for the V10, and 8-12" for the Pinnacle. Yet again I've managed to talk myself into multi-ski acquisition, oh darn.

Why yes ,,,,,, yes you have! I like it very much but for some reason I'm snow conditions challenged when trying to decide when to use it. I think it's just too wide for my current style of skiing, although I really like it in supper heavy spring glop. That's why I'm leaning more towards the V10 - anything above 85 in the waist starts to annoy me in edge to edge transitions, it seems.

You can tell the difference between a ski with an R of 15.8 and one of 16.5!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Probably not (perhaps my knees and back could though) but I've been running nothing but 15.0 - 16.0 this season, and have no desire to drift back up into the 16s. And that 16.5 R is for the 175 length, which is shorter than I'm looking for.
