I remember one of the Bears quite a few years ago had a pair and offered offered them just for the shipping cost, but I couldn't get to the US at the time :(

I have an ax. I could split the tails of the competitions for you.

Are the Salomon gs skis the ones where the tail was wider than the tip?

Skis look nice for their prom photo.

Really? Not these: 108/65/86

The only ski I recall with the tail wider than the tip were the Fischer Revolution ICE.

Those Swallows really should be made into shot skis :)

Why those in particular?

2001. It was a little weird, but had a pretty good turn finish. I skied it a few runs but not enough to really assess it. It didn't last though. Likely with the coming of stivots.
Those Hangl plates of the period were nice.

-------------
Or, consider one of the smoothest GS skis in the test, the gently explosive, uniquely shaped Salomon Equipe 10 2V Poweraxe ($725, 172-188, 97-66-100). "Easy and spunky," McKinney said, "but still full of energy." The 2V's 66-mm waist is wide and stable, and its tail is actually 3 mm wider than its tip great for "milking" the end of the turn for speed. Delliquadri loved its "unique feel locked into the snow, but not stuck. And in the course? Wow, automatic." Great even for first-time Masters racers.

This is a fence in Leadville.

I live in a neighborhood with an association. A ski fence wouldn't pass the Design Review Committee.

An office mate's neighborhood ass-ociation would not allow a large ham radio antenna.
He solved the problem by putting up a tall pole antenna flying a big american flag.
No rules against flying the flag. LOL

I checked all the above posts and there is no mention of the javelin xxl...

Are they available? Length? Skiable? Or usual hart tip and delam? (I want to ski them) Core shots fine, edge separation I don’t have the tools.

There are a few skis in those pics that I have skied on or remember, but you really know that you are old when you go into a bar in ski country and the classic skis on the wall are skis just like the ones that you once owned.

The list of skis is here: https://www.pugski.com/threads/lots-of-classic-and-vintage-skis.15632/#post-366637

The Javelins are in excellent condition. There is some minor base delamination as shown in the last two images. The bases are otherwise quite flat, no gouges or even repairs. They look like they were barely skied at all. Base to base, they are straight without any twists or bends. I did accidentally cut one of the alberg straps when I was opening the box and one is broken. I retained all the pieces as you can see in the photos.

These are special skis. I joined EpicSki to ask about the black and white Javelins as they were featured in my favorite ski movie: The Incredible Skis. A very generous member sent these to me for the cost of shipping, which is my price. They are extra special because they were engraved 'Cranmore Mt Ski School' or some like. That is my original home mountain and I probably saw these skis with their original (but unknown) owner. I haven't skied them but as I know @Lowell Watson is a dedicated skier of vintage gear, I would be honored to pass them along. I have more 'must keep' skis than I'll be able to keep so I can't think of a better home for them.

If a pair of the original black and white Javelins ever shows up, I'd be interested as they are more special to me than these XXLs. Just putting that out there. :)
