Lifting inside ski from the snow as a way to test balance

For sure there are instances where you have to use steering, jump turns, etc, where you can't entirely rely on the design of the ski to turn
For example, very narrow steep couloirs.

I am likely not qualified to comment here. This skier, whom I trained (filmed here a couple weeks ago):


is on the inside ski and as a result, cannot get power from the outside ski

... that being the feedback he just got from some L4 course conductors.

Interestingly, the slo-mo here shows him lifting the inside ski and no snow spray from the inside ski until later in the turn... even when skiing laid back like this...

... so... what do I know? There are many things that are not good in that run, but that would likely be the last thing I would pick ok...
