I recall learning about learning styles while obtaining my B.Ed. IIRC I had some problems with the theory, but found it useful. Now that it's been debunked in higher academic circles, I find myself in a similar position. I can learn by reading; my father never could. My mother could learn by listening. Her roommate in nursing school learned by reading. The roommate read to my mother. They made a great study team.
Like in many things, the truth is in the middle.
