JACKSON, Wyo. (AP) — The Jackson town council has reversed an earlier decision and will allow a snowmobile racing event in the Wyoming ski resort town.

The council on Monday night overturned its decision to deny Snow King Mountain Resort a permit allowing them to host the AMSOIL International Series of Champions Snocross in early December.

The Jackson Hole News & Guide reports (http://bit.ly/2hsFdHR ) that the council approved the permit on a 3-1 vote.

The council had originally denied the permit at its Sept. 5 meeting mainly because of late-night noise associated with the event.

However, the event’s promoter adjusted the schedule so that the two-day event ends earlier in the evening. In addition, alcohol sales will cease 30 minutes before the end of each day’s races and there will be no fireworks displays.

Snowmobiling events at Snow King are nothing new. I was in Jackson for the first time 12 -13 years ago when Snow King hosted the World Snowmobile Hillclimb Championships. We went over one evening after skiing to watch. Definitely a lot of noise!! Especially the TopFuel Modifieds. There were snowmobile trailers from all over America and Canada that had come to compete for the week, so I'm sure it gives a good boost to the local economy.
