Saw these skis (BMX 105 HP) in a local shop today brand new on close out price. Funny because I am contemplating getting theses same skis from a buddy. Anyways I saw this in the ski tip and was not sure if it is a concern or not so thought I would ask here. It seems a small section of metal edge is missing

Yes, it is a concern. It is quite possible for the broken edge to catch on something and pull out/break more edge. Epoxying the gap and diligently monitoring the edge and gap would go a long way to extending the life of the ski. I can't tell if they've attempted a repair from the photo.

That said, I wouldn't buy them. Scratched or dinged edge, sure. Broken edge. No.

Thanks @Doug Briggs that is what I was thinking. Bit surprised actually to see it on a brand new ski. I have seen edges where they connect but never simply missing like this. It kind of looked like some epoxy on it but not sure.
