While going through all of our posts here, we realized that we never formally introduced ourselves here on PugSki, though many of you have heard of us. Tricia and Phil have known us for a few years now and they are not just incredible people, they have been so supportive of us for many years. We thank them tremendously for their support here at PugSki and personally.

How the Alba Adventures started...

On Christmas Day 2010, our son Sandro, 6 at the time, got a freeboard from Santa. We were lucky that year, that we had a White Christmas. So he grabbed his freeboard and sled and we headed over to our local hill. There are not too many places to sled in our hood, but we had what locals called Dead Man’s Hill. A street closed off to traffic that lies parallel to a cemetery, in Washington Heights, NYC.

Our son got on his freeboard and rode down the hill like he had been doing it his whole life. Ray and Alicia had not skied in since 1997, and Ray's last trip skiing was February 1, 2001, but they could remember the feeling immediately. She looked at him and he looked at her, and he said “how about we start skiing again?” and so Alba Adventures began.

Why we film our adventures...

We wanted to record every possible moment so that we could have a memory to be shared with our family and friends and for hopefully one day , our children to share with their families. After our oldest son passed away in 2007, the few moments we have on video of him are our most treasured moments. Realizing this made us want to record and log our time together, as often as possible, especially while we ski as a family; ski time to us is our most special time together.

Since we started filming, we have produced over 100 video edits. These last few years, our work has been showcased by agencies and the mountains we have shot our stories (just yesterday Pico featured "Winter's Promise"). We are flattered every time a mountain or an agency shares our work as we are just a couple of parents that have a passion for skiing and making films. We are not that good, though are getting better. Maybe if we didn't have to edit in the middle of the night it would be as good as a Sherpas Cinema or a Warren Miller movie (wishful thinking).

Recent events ...

2018 was an incredible year for us as we were featured in two magazine articles (links below) and were asked to be part of the My Pico series at Pico Mountain. In the last month, we have been surprised with 3 companies - A goggle maker XEVO optics, a health food and bar company called Amrita Health Foods and lastly a huge surprise from Boulder Gear providing us with product sponsorships. Most of this happened in the last 3 weeks! We have no idea what 2019 has in store for us though we hope it is good.

Some of our work can be found obviously here on PugSki and we do feature our work on YouTube, Facebook with links from every other social media source you can think of. As Phil and Tricia would agree, getting through the social media noise is a tough job. We can't begin to tell you...

What's next for us?

We intend to keep on shooting and releasing stories and Nevada's Chairlift Snacks as often as we can. We don't make a living off these videos (we make negative digits), are an average, working family, that shoot stories for the love of skiing, for motivating other families, for telling our story and recording moments as keepsakes for us , our friends and the families we meet along the way. Maybe one day, Travel Channel or Ski Magazine will call us and ask us to host their ski show.. Another wishful thought.

To mention before closing, mostly every family you see in our videos, well we just approached them and asked if the would like to be part of our story. Most say no and the few that agree have no clue what we are producing. When they see the final, they are always awestruck.

Thank you all again and hope you can follow us here on PugSki and on other social media we are part of. Search for Alba Adventures here or on Google Search - and we can easily be found.

Safe Adventures and skiing to all. Happy New Year.

Best,
The Alba Family

So a question here - do any of you have followers on here - on your personal update posts? We do post there - though after looking at other users - it doesn't seem like anyone follows each-other here. So, its more like a forum format?
