IKON PASS ANNOUNCES MORE SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE ACCESS WITH THE ADDITION OF MT BULLER IN AUSTRALIA

Ikon Pass Now Offers Access to 39 Global Destinations. 19/20 Ikon Pass Pricing Goes Up April 24

DENVER, CO, April 15, 2019 – The Ikon Pass community continues to expand globally with the addition of Mt Buller in Victoria, Australia. Now Ikon Pass holders can take advantage of a year-round winter with access to six Southern Hemisphere destinations. Mt Buller joins Thredbo in New South Wales, Australia, Coronet Peak, The Remarkables, and Mt Hutt in New Zealand, and Valle Nevado in Chile, plus 33 destinations in the Northern Hemisphere.

Mt Buller, located in the Alpine National Park just 150 miles outside of Melbourne, has been a beloved destination among skiers and riders in Victoria for 70 years. Mt Buller offers 741 acres and 80 trails for all abilities, with ski-in/ski-out accommodation, dining, spas and activities, all nestled in a bustling village at treeline.

Ikon Pass holders will have seven-day access to Mt Buller on the Ikon Pass with no blackout dates, and five-day access on the Ikon Base Pass, also with no blackout dates.

Bonus Access - TWO Seasons with the Purchase of ONE Pass

In celebration of Mt Buller’s inaugural Ikon Pass season, 19/20 Ikon Pass holders will get bonus early access to Mt Buller for the 2019 season starting this June, along with regular access to the 2020 season.

“We are excited to give skiers and riders another reason to hit the slopes in Australia with the addition of Mt Buller,” said Erik Forsell, Chief Marketing Officer, Alterra Mountain Company. “The global access the Ikon Pass offers encourages Ikon Pass holders to explore all the Southern Hemisphere has to offer. Winter 19/20 doesn’t have to end.”

“Mt Buller is delighted to join the Ikon Pass for the 19/20 season, we are in great company with such an impressive line-up of incredible mountain destinations,” said Laurie Blampied, General Manager, Mt Buller. “We look forward to introducing more people from around the globe to the pleasures of skiing and boarding through the snowgums, spotting wombats along the trail, and the special experience of staying high in the snowline in our unique Australian alpine village.”

The Ikon Pass unlocks adventure with access to 39 iconic winter destinations across the Americas, Japan, Australia and New Zealand and is a collaboration of industry leaders - Alterra Mountain Company, Aspen Skiing Company, Boyne Resorts, POWDR, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, Alta Ski Area, Snowbird, SkiBig3, Revelstoke Mountain Resort, Taos Ski Valley, Sugarbush Resort, Thredbo, Mt Buller, Niseko United, Valle Nevado, and NZ Ski. Each demonstrates integrity, character and independence that is reflected in their mountains and guests.

Long time Mt. Buller skiers are bracing themselves for increasing number of IKON skiers that would eventually diminish their skiing experience.

Expect to see some bumper stickers at local's cars showing displeasure with this development.

There goes the neighborhood !!!

^^^Since you didn't use a smillie, I am going to have to call "Fake News". How many North American Ikon skiers are going to fly Australia to ski in summer? If you must ski in summer, South America is a better choice.

That said, in the past a few Aussie co-workers would go work at Mt. Buller after a winter in B.C. and they were of the opinion that Mt. Buller is Australia's best ski resort.

Good point.

Probably literally dozens. Or dozen.

And we're generally very good tippers!

Nice to see Ikon adding more iconic resorts.:roflmao::roflmao:
Classics hills with legendary terrain and an abundance of powder like Jackson, Snowbird, Big Sky, Aspen, Mammoth, Revelstoke..........................and Mt Buller.
Great for us Aussies I suppose. But for those that don't live here please don't spend 15 hours on a plane just to come to Mt Buller though.

Yeah, this is likely a diabolical plot to get/force the poor Aussies to buy an Ikon pass and fly to North America, where they can enjoy their skiing, totally against their will.

Lol.
No it's a good thing for Aussies really. The Ikon pass means good value because you get Thredbo (in my view Australia's best hill) and Buller for less than a season pass at Thredbo was last year.
And of course the option to take advantage of everything in North America (if you have the cash to do it).
My point was Mt Buller doesn't exactly fit into the Ikon stable which is a group of truly magnificent mountains.
