Stone and Bun
This was developed from a drum track idea I recorded in the 1980s.

Aimless

Aimless is the only vocal track on this album. This is a remake of a track I recorded in the 80s by the same name. The lyrics are the same, but I changed almost everything else on it to some extent. When I created Aimless and when I re-created Aimless I felt like an actor playing a part while singing the lyrics. I may have actually gone beyond method acting since I had bronchitis when I recorded the vocals on this version.
Instrumentation: Drums, Piano, Bass, Clavinet, Vocals

Motions

Motions is based on my composition titled Opening Sequence, which I had used for a choreographed group tumbling exhibition when I taught gymnastics at Head Over Heels in Emeryville, CA in the 1980s.
Instrumentation: Drums, Piano, Kalimba, Synthesizer, Guitar, Clavinet, Vibraphone, Bass, Organ, Violins, Cellos

Road Pops

Road Pops is based on a short melodic bass line I composed with working title of Mini Bum Rhapsody. When I expanded on this idea it became much more cheerful and was given the happier title Road Pops.

Instrumentation: Drums, Bass, Organ, Clavinet, Synthesizers, Electric Piano

Surface Swim

The previous title for this piece was Skimming the Surface. Scuba diving in Whaler’s Cove in Point Lobos State Natural Reserve was the inspiration for this.

Instrumentation: Drums, Bass, Piano, Clavinet, Vibraphone, Marimba, Guitar, Strings, Synthesizer

Ultra Indigo

The previous title for this piece was Ultraviolet. I was happy to find out that the new title, Ultra Indigo, is also the name of a hair color. This track could be suitable for an investigatory news program, a sports drama, a spy comedy, or perhaps something else entirely.

Instrumentation: Drums, Bass, Synthesizers, Cellos, Guitar, Clavinet, Organ

Mobile Sweet Variation

I originally titled this song after going to Chinatown in Oakland, CA and buying a box of Japanese candy that came with a blue plastic model toy robot/transformer. The box said Mobile Suit Variation in English next to lots of Japanese writing. I think that the candy was similar to Botan Rice Candy, but I'm not sure. I though that when I reworked Mobile Suit Variation that I would retitle it with a candy reference - Mobile Sweet Variation (along with a play on words, suite.)

Instrumentation: Drums, Synthesizers, Marimbas, Strings, Clavinet, Xylophone

Favourite Coloured Armour

This is one that I did not retitle. I like the British spelling of the three words in the title. It also seems to match the rhythm throughout the song.

Nuevo Mascara

The original title for this piece was The Masked Manager. Nuevo Mascara is Spanish for New Mask, which seemed appropriate for an updated version. It also has a connection with lucha libre.
Instrumentation: Drums, Synthesizers, Clavinet, Electric Piano, Vibraphone, Strings, Marimba, Guitar

Camouflage Exhibition

This was developed from some notes of an idea that I likely came up with on a Casio VL-Tone. However, this had not been recorded before.

Fashion Plate

While looking through an old notebook of my songs from back in the mid 80s. I found drums and bass notes for Roland's Bassline and Drumatix along with an arrangement. This also had a working title of I Don't Know What To Wear. However, it was not completed. This felt like finding a hidden room in an old house. I initially recorded it according to the notes in the notebook, realized why I hadn't released it and gave it a thorough remodeling. The bass notes and arrangement are still close to the original composition. I tweaked the drums and added synthesizers, an intro, and an ending.

She Stands

This is the next step after a piece originally titled Ethel Fell. This reminds me of either a video game theme or the music that is on the menu portion of a DVD. This may even evolve into something else in the future.

Mileage May Vary

This is the fourth version of a track that was previously Car Go Far (I), Car Go Far (II), and The Racer's Edge. (The first two had vocals, the third was instrumental.) It felt like I was able to get the pianos to do some singing on this version.

Giant Pillowcase

This is a combination of two themes. The introduction reminds me of the powerful feeling of love the last time my Mom and I hugged each other. A modern dancer performing in a large cloth bag or a giant pillowcase inspires the rest of the piece.

Instrumentation: Synthesizers, Strings, Mallets, Bass
