My new boots have gripwalk soles, and when they were to be fitted to my skis - both pairs with adjustible-height AFD (‘13 jesters, ‘16 griffons), but neither ID models - the tech was confident he could adjust the griffons’ AFD to accommodate the gripwalk sole, but not so much the jesters’. As neither were true GW soles, I opted to purchase a set alpine soles.
Questions: aside from where the AFD’s height is adjusted - front or back of toe piece - what’s
the difference between the pre-ID and ID binding?
Is it ultimately only a matter of proper AFD clearance, and if a pre-ID Marker binding’s AFD can be adjust see ed appropriately, is it “safe”?
Cheers,
Mark
