Can we make face plant jokes yet??:)

(To be clear I am saying this in the most light hearted way possible..)

Nothing I don't deserve Scott, but this is another aspect of the event that's just plain strange.

No cuts to my face, no black and blue ANYWHERE and David handed me my goggles which aside from being filled with snow were perfectly fine. Slight swelling of my nose for a few days after. How on Earth did I pull that one off ?

Meh bad luck . Sometimes the gods are capricious. The important thing is you seem to be on your way to 100% recovery and you have good humor on your side! :)

Simply put this is were situational awareness plays such a huge part in all of our ski days. Let your guard down for a moment or just miscalculate and your ski day gets impacted. Sharing your experiences will hopefully keep others from falling into the same situation. Heal quickly as next season awaits on the other side of Summer.

He's feeling pretty spunky today and has decided to go fishing. It's a good day.

...divided by a common language...

Your people have been speaking incorrectly for much longer than we ‘Mericans have.

From Star Trek 6: Gorkon: “You have not experienced Shakespeare until you have read him in the original Klingon.”

Pretty good day at the doctors today. They took a few more x-Rays and measured the range of motion in my neck. Head back, head forward and turning left are all at or about at a normal range of motion. I've got about 80% turning to the right. I'm amazed at how well aligned the vertebrae looked and how well spaced they are. They put me on a "call if needed" basis.

As far as FULL (back to normal recovery) I'm looking at 6-12 months for everything non skeletal that took a hit to be completely back to normal.

That's about it !

I'll know more next week. Healing has slowed a bit with the right arm. Headed in to get one more MRI.

I saw my sports med doc earlier this week. We are thinking there are some soft tissue (some type) of tears near the top of my arm. Partial tears we'll leave up to PT. If there is a full tear, it's surgery time.

The MRI showed a partial tear of the Rotator Cuff. The doctor and I are pretty much of the opinion that it was crushed when my arm was driven up into the joint.

I head in to see a specialist next Tuesday for a second opinion on the best path for recovery. It is still improving, though slowly. and there is a lot of fluid in the joint right now. It sounds like it may be a toss up on surgery vs no surgery. I suspect if would be arthroscopic if needed.

I have a partial tear in my right shoulder and at the suggestion of my surgeon underwent PT vs surgery. It has worked very well so far. Shoulder surgeries are always tough and recovery is generally long. I would definitely go the PT route before making any decision on surgery. Good luck.

If your goal is to ski this season that would be a tough call. If PT works, great but if not you would be lucky to get on the slopes this season. Time for a frank discussion with your orthopedist.
