My last bike was a Trek Fuel EX8 WSD. Size 16.5. Thats the bike I'm riding in my avatar.
I would definitely consider Trek if I can find a place that will demo.
Part of the reason I have been riding Pivot and Cannondale is because the shop I work at carries those brands and its easy for me to take one out.
If you can get a deal, then it's a no-brainer to go with one of those.

This is a great resource to see the concave/convex look of pedals:

Big fan of the Raceface Atlas and Chester pedals. I also had the Spike Spank pedals on my previous bike (a Pivot Mach 5.7) - but when I got my new bike last year, an Ibis Mojo 3, I had to get new pedals to match the new bike. And Spike didn't make purple.

Just watch out for pedal strike. Your shins won't necessarily look so pretty. Two good options for that:
1) Tall socks

2) Shin guards

New question:
I got the One Up Composite pedals for the Trigger (in orange, of course)

I got Crank Brothers Stamp

The bike mechanic at the shop mentioned that the Crank Brother's pedal seems to spin a little better than the One Up pedals.
This is something that I don't notice while riding.
Is spin something that I should consider when choosing a pedal?

Another of the shop mechanics asked if I noticed any "flexing" of the composite pedal when I'm riding. I don't.
Is this a thing?

It is definitely a thing for those of us who weigh twice what you do.

There is also a 'thing' where we use pedal washers or collets to prevent the thread shoulder of the crankarm from getting chewed up.

Equally important is how does it spin after being bashed several times.

Looking at it for the engineering side, spin (especially after being bashed up) just indicates how good the bearings are (ie cheap crap or good hardened bearings).

Flex well, that is personal, but in ski terms relates to a ski that is not a high performance ski, just doesn’t transmit energy as expected and lets you down.
