If you set those short skis out in the sunlight with the proper fertilizer and water they should grow to a proper length. Then to, you could wax them with viagra. ;)

This from a guy that spent a season on 120cm skis that had a 9 meter radius. :D

How about this guy running out of breath and ready for a heart attack while flexing his boots in his hallway in this video ski tip? He does do this for 5 minutes every night so he should be in great shape for this coming ski season for sure ...

anybody posted this one yet?...one of my favs

get past the goofy first minute and her nervousness turns to good technical biomechanical information...

Kate Howe knows her stuff....and shares the evolution of her knowledge as well, readily admitting that she is always working on stuff to improve her understanding and performance....

Yes, Great Video JP. I have watched it a number of times in the past. She makes an excellent case.

The only problem with the video demo (not the points she is making) is that it is filmed in a room on flat ground where the feet are on the same plane. This is basically the same plane when in the fall line. What is important (and where the hip dumping shows it's ugly face) is after the fall line

IMO, what is key in helping to keep the pelvis moving level after the fall line is an active shortening of the inside leg. If the leg is not actively shortened, other means of finding a higher edge angle will be used....Hip dumping being one of them.

Check the recent wake of WC racers doing basic stuff (Innerhofer of Italy, Nyman of USA) either as a complement or because bac from injury...
Watching them doing basic stuff like the wedge/snowplough, basic parallel turns and various exercises that any instructor would propose to pupils, is very intriguing and telling

I really like some of these turns in the videos you are showing. I really like Nick's! I didn't think the original video was focused on demoing as much as drills. Some of those drills are probably pretty standard, I went through them with an (PSIA L3) instructor late last season, in preparation for my first bumps lesson

Kate's is an off the cuff production worthy of polishing up for sure.

Started watching the Avoriaz ski school last night, between innings in the baseball game, and it seems to have potential as well.

I think this one might be one of my favorites as soon as I find out what “extend and be free in the love spot” actually means (1:38).
Is that clendenin method terminology?

And, now, a word from our sponsor, PSIA

This is from 1988, yet still relevant. Ellen Post Foster can really ski.

And her book "Skiing and the Art of Carving" is a must have for any instructor.

Does Mikaela illustrate Kate Howe's point well, here, at 0:25?

Or, does KH present MS's point? :)

They sure do Karlo! another great vid...for most of us mere mortals those angles, at the speeds we are used to, would result in hip dumping, hip dropping, and a host of other over done movements. It sure is great when you feel dialed in and have a flow from turn to turn......

And that centerline, lateral teaching/learning vid is great. The movements hold up...(did ya notice the appropriate for the time strong tail finishes in those dynamic parallel turns?....Love the diverging parallel...I was playing with those a couple of seasons ago and that took me down the rabbit hole of wanting to know why they came about...)
I got all the way back to the Berkinbiners for God's sake!

This one popped up recently.

Do you think it's slow-mo? Very smooth and graceful. If one simply tries to emulate the grace, even without thinking about the technique, one's skiing would be much improved. But, keep sight of the terrain changes while doing so.

Love it. Very aesthetic.
