LOL, #60. Probably the only song on that list that I still listen too today.

I don't remember many songs specifically from the radio. I do remember liking Ring of Fire by Johnny Cash, That's Alright Mama & Don't be Cruel by Elvis, Mean Women Blues by Roy Orbison. My mom listened to opera but I think I would just go outside. My dad liked big band, Sinatra & that era pop music. I like that stuff more now than I did then. My brother had stacks of 45's Mowtown, Beach boys etc. Later was the Beatles,Stones, the Who & then Brits doing blues, Bluesbreakers, Yardbirds, Cream, & then Zeppelin came along!

Never heard this on the radio when I was growing up.

In 1967 I turned out for my 7th grade wrestling team. In the first day of practice I broke my collarbone, thus ending my wrestling career. It hurt like crazy and I got some pain meds which were in full effect to help me sleep. I turned on my little radio next to my bed and it was playing while I tried to sleep (not a good idea, but I was 13) and the Beatles "Strawberry Fields" came on for the first time. In my opiate induced stupor it was the weirdest song I had ever heard. I remember climbing out of my mental fog to this song that was as strange as anything I had ever heard up to that point. I still laugh at the thought every time I hear the tune.
