A few years ago the state of Washington legislature passed a $10,000 fine if you're caught going into closed areas. I don't see it happen at Mt. Baker at all any more.

A few days ago Baker closed the top of Gabl's, a popular double diamond run. As you rode over it on the chair you could see that the new snow was completely uncut, not one person went down for days. In the past it wouldn't have happened.

It was suggested to take the poacher's ski boots and have them reclaimable at guest services. (with mandatory "education" )

That would slow things down. ;-)
