It's a thing to restrict upwards heel motion during downhill skiing - you're supposed to release it when climbing. It replaces the type of cable restraints that stick out to the side of the ski, that the cable would hook onto - precisely because they stick out to the side even when not needed.

'Superdiagonal' sounds like an Attenhofer marketing term.

At the time , 1939 , the ''buzz word '' was not carving !
Ir was '' Vorlage '' ...
And to do it with grace , it was interesting to have the Superdiagonal gadget : it helped you lean forward over your toes without falling on your nose .
Made in Canada and patented too ...

Now , the Dominion Ski Limited ... I have the feeling that they were created for the Dominion Ski Competition , the best they could offer ... and the war killed it ... Remember that we went into war at the same time as Great Britain , way before the infamous December raid on Pearl Harbour . Everything was rationed and skiing wnet into slumber for the next 5 years .
I have to look in the Provincial Gazette to see what Co. were reated at the time ... a long process ...

Yes , I live in Canada ...

After a long investigation .... I found out about the Dominion Ski Co.
They were manufacturing skis up until the end of WWII , doing so in a garage located in the Montcalm neighborhood - corner Chemin Ste Foy and Coet de l'Aqueduc .
The owners were two brothers born in Québec City , the Royer .
Nothing is left of that place , no memories ....
Sad !
