We often talk about "DIRT" when discussing the application of skiing skills
.
My recollection is that:
D = duration - how long we do something (it)
I = intensity - how much do we use of it
T - timing - when do we use it.

R = I think it is "rate", but I am not sure, and if it is, what does it mean?

Can anyone help me here?

Yes, it's "rate." Like "tempo" in my mind.

Another way to think about it : A perfect square wave would have finite duration, finite intensity and known timing.

It would have infinite rate, since it goes to full intensity in an infinitesimal time.

But that would be a rather bang-bang-bang way to give a ski DIT inputs and we don't do that, so we talk about finite rates.

All refer to ways in which you can change or adjust movements to get a different result, for example the differences between a small radius turn and a medium or larger radius turn.
