Confused about PSIA-W L2 technical understanding

Hi,

I am preparing L2 Skiing exam. Everything seems not difficult except the technical understanding part.

I was told the examiner will question candidates for biomechanic things and require them to break down the movement (rotation, knee, hip, ankle and etc.).

What movements would be asked for biomechanic analysis? And what is the right way to answer?

Before posting this thread I have read through two PSIA books but very little information are given, even though there is the "biomechanic chapter."

Anyone has a clue please share some.

Thanks

This is suggesting that you spend a little money, but...Projected Productions has a video presentation by Reilly McGlashan on biomechanics for skiers that is superb.

Don't feel bad... I was recently asked to give a biomechnics talk to a bunch of II / III's and yes I get confused myself at times :roflmao:

You need to provide relatively simple cause and effect relationships.

What does extension and flexion through ankle, knee, hips, spine respectively do to move the centre of mass along the length of the ski?
How does skiing in an extended vs flexed position effect rotation, edging, ability to regulate the overall magnitude of pressure?
How does a wide vs a narrow stance with effect ability to move foot to foot?

It will not be exactly collegiate stuff.
