I don't know what those are, but they look darn good!!

I had the rice ball special. It’s the size of a softball, and the Sicilian antipasto, which was a combo of potato croquettes and panzanelle - chickpea fritters, and fresh ricotta and parmigianno. Carb O.D. I brought leftovers home.

I’ve been on a real Italian kick lately. After lunch, I went to a famous Brooklyn Italian food shop, Caputo’s, and bought some of their famous fresh mozzarella and scamorzza - aged mozzarella. Also got pizza dough and homemade marinara. This is why living in ny is good...

I’m not sure if I want to eat dinner tonight.

Did you at least taste it? You put all good things on the pie, it only looks like the shape was odd.

I tried. Bottom of the crust was burnt to much. I did scrape off most of the top and eat that while waiting for the pros to make our pie. 700 was too hot. 550 works better.

Hopefully this qualifies as “catch all.” No sense starting a new thread.

Has anyone ever used one of the overnight oyster/seafood delivery companies? I want to get a few bushels of some of the Pacific Northwest offerings for Thanksgiving. Ideally they would arrive on Tuesday and still be alive in the shell through Friday. I know how to store/keep them for longer time periods, so that is not the issue. The issue is trust re how long they have been on ice or in the cooler before they are shipped to me. I don’t care about the cost - what I want to avoid is a bunch of stinky dead oysters on Wednesday night/Thursday morning.

Any recommendations? I can get gulf oysters by the truckload where I am (and have) but I prefer the smaller, more briny varieties from far away, which requires shipping.

I don't know where about you are, but check with your local seafood distributor. Where I am, there are several seafood wholesalers that sell to the public. They bring in product from the East and West coasts once or twice a week, depending on the distributor, and the product. I know I can get a box of PEI oysters shipped on a Thursday for a Saturday party.

I have been patronizing this fish market for 20 years. They are AWESOME. Maine has very cold water and great oysters. Example: nationally known Glidden Points. Their retail store typically has at least half a dozen kinds on hand. Call them to see what they can do.

This is a subset of what they might have.

Thanks for the tips. I will try the place in Maine. There are a couple places in Atlanta to get stuff from the northeast or northwest that are open to the public, but quantities to the public are limited. Maybe a bushel at best. In years' past I've inquired about special orders and the response has been dismissive at best.

+1 on Glidden Points. Delicious, clean, and just plain yummy.
