I have a friend who's cat sleeps in his dirty gym bag......it's a cat, what can you say.

Oscar used to LOVE Eric's hockey bag. OMG. The stench!

I don't want to deflect from the cute cat in a box thread but has anyone ever seen anything like this.

Tiki had red around his mouth in June so we took him in. Vet was sure he got into something caustic. That went away and he got a scab on the left side of his face resulting in I'm sure lots of kicks from Mouse. That's gone and now he's got this. I sent pictures to the vet and she said boo boos like that are usually allergy to biting a flea or some other allergy but to bring him in if it doesn't go away. She suggested I change his flea stuff from revolution to advantage which I did. It hasn't gone away so he's going in this saturday.

He's eating, drinking and acting 100% normal so it doesn't bother him at all. I can also touch the area and he doesn't seem to care

He's only a year and a half so the vet was sure it wasn't anything bad such as the c word, an ulcer or gum disease.

Looks like it could be a granuloma. When Oscar got those, she'd get a steroid shot that cleared it up. https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/feline-eosinophilic-granuloma-complex-in-cats

Thanks. I'll read up on that on the train. I didn't want to gross anyone out. Hoping a shot will make it all better. I've been through a lot with cat stuff in the last 2 years so hoping it's a small deal.

Note: I am NOT a vet and am only comparing it to something my cat had - I have no knowledge of other conditions that might present similar symptoms! YMMV, IANAV, etc etc.

I know, appreciate your comment. Just shooting for possibilities. I'm having my brother look at it too. He's a vet tech. Hoping it's nothing.

@Monique interestingly enough the article says some research studies suggest that a form of allergic response (hypersensitivity reaction) may be involved in the majority of cases.

And that the main combative thing is good flea control.

All this aligns with what vet already suspects.

Interesting article, thanks for linking it.
