Well, following up discussion on another thread about TC, looks like the speculation that Cardies would eventually buy TC will play out. Article below indicates TC shareholders likely to accept Cardrona's offer of NZ$7 million. Low offer for TC highlights the lack of profitability for the ski field. As unfortunate as it is, TC needed a white knight buyer to be sustainable, and it looks like it is Cardies. Selfishly, I wish a Vail or an Alterra would buy it as a cheap way to get a foothold in the NZ market, but TC just doesn't fit the mold - limited opportunity for meaningful ancillary revenue without lodging, etc.
Let's hope Cardies will be a good steward of TC and invest money in the ski field.
