So Last night @jmeb and I made plans online to go backcountry skiing today. We knew it was going to be VERY cold so Jake suggested the Broome Hut area since we could go inside the day use area whenever we got too cold / tired. That is a luxury rarely available in the backcountry.
The morning was VERY cold. At the lot we booted up in sub zero temps. The skin up started cold but we soon were climbing quite a bit and warming up but the hands and feet still got cold.
From the first 100 yards of the climb it was obvious the snow was fantastic. Dry powder over a good base.
I took a bunch of pics. You can see the awesome powder fields and pristine conditions. The alpine around the hut is stunning but the snowpack, while pretty, its still too dangerous to ski down the steep lines off the ridge.
How about this powder @nay , look ski tip pics!
A Frame Bowl looking amazing... but under the surface @jmeb found some sharks! Luckily no major damage was done.
Skinning up back to the Hut area
Heading home
