Hi and thanks for viewing.

I'm an ole dog with new boots. In the day, we wore the boots around the house for days walking around to help break them in. Is that still recommended?

The company I purchased my boots from recommended skiing on them for a few days before heat molding... do you agree ?

Any suggestions to help break these in would be greatly appreciated.. debella boots.png

Cowboy boots from Hell?

Oh but if you are breaking them in at home over the summer watching ski porn is highly recommended during that process.

Depends on how the initial fit is. If they don’t hurt at any spots then ski them first to see where, if any, the issues are.

Walking around in boots was never recommended for break in. Do you break in hiking boots by skiing in them? ;)

IMHO, If heat molding is needed, it should be done during the initial fit. Who ever told you to ski them first is either lazy or a boots salesperson and not a boot fitter. You break ski boots in by...you guessed it...skiing in them. Sorry, someone has been giving you worlds of misinformation.

100% agree with Phil, sounds like boot seller and lazy one at that , the ID liner if not heated is going to take a bit of break in unless the shell is too big, but you do this by skiing not walking around the house

A question for Lee
Did the person you bought the boots from even do a shell fit ?
Measure the shell fit yourself and let us now how big it is.

i would be a little concerned at his "definitely no more than 2 finger fit" as he squeezes 2.5-3 fingers behind the heel

i have big hands, you really do not want a shell fit with 2 of my fingers.... time to start using actual measurements folks mm or inches i don't really care, but use tangibles

I would heat mold the boots before skiing. I got Kryptons from a well respected boot fitter in my region, and he also recommended skiing them before heat molding. It was a pretty painful experience. I went back to the shop to get the molded and they had a great fit after that (well, i still needed a couple of shell adjustments, but they were mostly good :) )
