Brother engaged in the GLMF (good luck my friend) method ski instruction. Good way to ensure one never skis again...
That was pretty much my introduction to snowboarding from my friend who, in retrospect, sucked at it, therefore I have never been on a board since.

My my instructions on my first day on skis consisted of how to make a snowplow, the rudiments of rope tow use, and "I'll see you at lunch". I fell hundreds of times that day. And was forever hooked.

My first days on skis dad sent me to the neighbors front yard hill with antique skis with only a leather strap (probably from the 1800's) and my snow boots. All it too was a taste to start begging for skis with metal edges...
