With hydration bottles being all the rage, it takes something special to separate yourself from the pack. Bindle is thinking outside the, er, bottle by looking at how it can be used in day-to-day activities for something other than hydration. By adding a compartment to store things like keys, cash, and credit cards safely and securely (and away from the eyes of people with sticky fingers), Bindle believes it has created a solution for an active person.

The main body of the reservoir holds 24 oz of fluid, which is about average for a personal device. The insulating ability of the Bindle is on par with other familiar brands; there is no compromising here. On one of our blistering hot Reno days, I packed the Bindle with ice and left it on the patio in 98° heat all day, and in the evening only a few drops of water came out -- impressive.

What separates Bindle from other insulated bottles is the sealed storage compartment at the bottom of the bottle. The twist-off compartment does a good job of holding and more importantly hiding valuables like keys, cash, credit/debit cards, and maybe even jewelry. Unfortunately, it is not big enough for my wallet or cell phone. This is an area where Bindle could further break away from the pack. When people are walking around with 48-, 64-, and 128-oz hydration bottles, size becomes irrelevant. Bindle could offer a variety of larger storage options that would hold phones, wallets, and even a snack.
  • Who is it for? Minimalists, people who want fewer things to carry and a safe, sealed, and basically invisible compartment for their stuff.
  • Who is it not for? People who expect everything; granted, some people will never be satisfied, but it would be nice to have more storage options.
