I couldn't resist and bought a left over Head Kore 93 during the summer. I've got Attack 13 bindings for them.

What's the collective opinion on the mount point?

Thanks in advance!

Recommended or +1, that is a really fun ski regardless of specific mount.

lol... So based on the feedback of +1 and -1, the collective wisdom is to mount at the recommended point.

More serious question, how does moving the mount point forward or backward impact the skis dynamics? Are there any general rules to this?

Moving forward makes skis easier to pivot, easier to initiate turns, makes “more playful” and makes them “ski shorter”. Moving back makes them more stable, aids in getting tips up for float/prevents tip dive and improves carving performance.

Most manufactures advise only moving forward or back a max of 1-2cm, so all of these effects are like a slight flavoring of the above effects.

The Head Kore are “traditional mounts” at about 11-12cm back from center so it’s more rare to move these much further back with most using the line or moving them a cm or so forward to make more playful. The Enforcer series for example is in the 8.5cm back from center range which is common in Free ride skis, so more common for many to move them back to give a “more traditional” feel.

Freestyle skis mounts(and their sidecut centers) are much closer to center with “park” mounts just a few cm back from center and “all mountain” mounts being around 5-6cm back from center. Like traditional skis, the carving performance, stability and float improve etc when moved back but at 6cm still feel balanced in the air. Further back than 6cm or so, these skis aren’t as playful or easy to spin.

If in doubt, the line is golden unless you have the ability to try new mounts to see if you like or dislike any movement from there.
