I credit them for trying to be optimistic within this media cycle. It gives them some good press.

What they can actually do as construction windows tighten is another matter.

assuming this lockdown goes out another month I am betting the chairlift replacement goes on hold - simple timelines, if it doesn't start on time you get stuck with no chairlift next season...
All of the terrain served by the Big Burn lift is equivalently served by the Sheer Bliss lift. It's possible that the weather issues may not be a constraint. A bigger issue is whether and when Pitkin County might lift the ban on construction activities.

As important as the Capex decisions in the article is how SkiCo has treated their employees. There's are some real benefits to private ownership!

Skico also has approval from Basalt to build a 43-unit affordable housing complex in Willits. Site work already has started on the project, which will provide 150 bedrooms. The cost of the project is about $19 million with construction and land acquisition, Hanle said.
