What wax would you use for hot boxing race skis after fresh flattening and structure?

Hasn't hotbox fallen out of favor? Aren't IR heat lamps the latest greatest now?

Dominator Renew or Toko Cleaning wax. You want a really soft wax to penetrate into the base. Also, you want to use a relatively low temp to soak the wax in, like 110-115*F.

But yeah, they've more or less fallen out of favor over fear that the extended heat cycles will damage the adhesives in the ski. IR is nicer but pricey for a home setup. Most have gone back to just doing multiple coats of progressively harder waxes.

This is interesting...

I have never used the hot box. It just kinda showed up at my house.

I prefer a generous coat of BP-88 @ 140f for about 4-6 hours.
When toko introduced their thermobag, they published a printed temp/duration chart, I havnt seen this chart in ages, but my numbers echo their rec's. For a harder wax, increase temp to 160f. Just keep an eye on them, check every hour, turn off heat before dry spots appear (usually tip/tail).
