I recently had an inquiry regarding the high DIN 490RD all metal 'Race' bindings.
I have the mageta version on my K2 KVC KV Comps. These are a 5-14 DIN binding.
Was their an even higher DIN version, possibly up to 15 or 16?
Also was there a 490 in green? What DIN was that?

Thanks for any info you can provide.

@Bill Talbot thanks for your thinking of me on this subject, at this time I have only two pairs of 490 RD's one is the Calgary so that is 1988 and that shows a 12 DIN as the last number but can be tightened a little past that number. The other is a Red and White model and that too shows a 12 Din as the last number but also can be tightened a little past the end. One of my books from 1982 said in the Tyrolia review that a 380 RD DIN goes from 6 - R but no definition of what R means. If I would guess it stands for Race. I do not know of a green D or RD model but that does not mean one may have been manufacture in limited production for one reason or another. The closest to green I have seen is in Post #7 by @Dave Petersen and my photo in Post #10 on Page 1 of this thread.

Thanks for your feedback. As you can see, these went up to 14 DIN. As I recall, in the late 80's that was a very high number indeed.
I don't think there was a version that went higher but would love to be proved wrong.

Hello to everyone

I'm pretty sure that exist a 490 magenta rd x model for athletes with din 15/16, probably my 1989; I saw them in the late 80s during world cup races in Cortina d'Ampezzo where I live.

Green 490? Mmm no.. 590 rff model yes!
I'm pretty sure that exist x 590 rff model too.

Hope that someone can confirm..because i'm looking for those in the market.

I think I have a set 590's somewhere not sure what DIN setting but will check. Will post when I find them, not sure of condition.

I went looking for the 590's today but no luck, not sure where they are or if I still have them. I remember a storage issue with the bar that went between the toe and heel. I only have limited space so I have to keep things compact. I did stumble on a pair of T- 8's I did not know I had but they are only a 12 DIN Max. They look a lot like the D - 8's @Dave Petersen posted above. Maybe they are D - 8 with the paint scraped off.

@KingGrump and @Philpug,
Were the 360RD bright orange with black graphics?
I thought all this time that the Bright Orange 380RD Tyrolias on my Olin Mark Vl CompSL “Bond” skis were correct but it has been brought to my attention from a movie still that Roger Moore is definitely stepping into 360RD bindings based on the shape of the toe piece.

Look like he was on the orange 360RD. The 380RD I had were red.
