My 'ol K2 football shirt I used to wear in the mid 70's.

Came across this photo on Instagram. That must be the parade float winner (upper left) from their contest a couple years ago.

The latest addition to my red, white and blue K2 ski collection arrived this week courtesy of @Doug Briggs. Thanks and I owe you that beer or 2 next time I am in Breck. (When I get these to the ski house, I will post an updated group pic )

When they teach advertising they overlook K2... yet this was the kind of attitude that launched Nike early on. Something about irreverent PNW counter-culture capitalists...

Wong attempting to hold the short skis is absolutely brilliant on multiple levels.

Even the production values are forward thinking... those hand cut silhouettes probably cost hundreds per back when other ads were getting produced for peanuts.

This one baffles me, most art directors couldn't execute this 30 years later yet they nailed it:

Then they mock the classic VW ads right down to the copy style, amazing:

And look how they cue into culture, 1970, height of rebellion, when every college kid thought they were a Marxist:

So f-ing brilliant.

Sickening they sold out. I had a serious case of brand loyalty and they lost me.

1983, sort of a coach with a pick up truck and a pro-form abuse problem. Drove up to Vashon Island and picked up 40 pair, sold half out in the parking lot of the Mogul Mouse dome sale in Eugene, Oregon then they offered me a job. I think the statute of limitations has expired.

Check out the Sugarloaf belt. Skiing's a disease.

Minty 233 Mids with 444s, matching poles, and a matching K2 bag.. All for $9.99

I've got these bad boys in the ski box to ride tomorrow on my self proclaimed retro day. The little place is doing their best to get the full whopping 365 feet of vert back open, but if they can't make enough snow tonight, only about 250 will be in play with things only running to the mid station. So, I'll play on these. I'll also rock an older US Ski Team Spyder mid layer and a pair of US Freestyle Team gloves, PugSki Beanie, and some blue Vuarnet glasses. Should be a bluebird day in the low 30s. Not going to use the matching poles though.. They are too big and I'm waffling at cutting them down because they'd actually be pretty good for ballet. Tomorrow short runs in the baby park and maybe some slush bumps around noon. I've also got a pair of shorter 1080s in case of unforeseen ski explosion hahaha..
