Hexcel was based here in Reno, I wonder what I can find out about them.

Loved my Hexcels. Probably why I prefer light skis today.

First waterski I built had Hexcel honeycomb. Good stuff.

First engineering job was working on the Hexcel waterski (in Stockton, CA for Kimball waterskis who bought the molds). I wasn't good enough - it faded because I couldn't adapt it to mass production. I learned a lot.

Didn't they have a core business in avionic frames, aircraft wings, stuff like that? When Hanson absorbed the ski division the rest of it probably went on with their main gig, probably eventually absorbed by Boeing, McDonnell Douglas, Airbus, Northrup Grummon or someone like that..

If I am remembering correctly THE SKI JOURNAL had a really good article on Hexcel. I can't remember if I bought it - I will need to check my archives.

I had a pair of Hexcel Comp 200 CM back around 1973 - 1974 with the basic graphic of Navy Blue and Lime Green lettering. One of my top five skis of all time. I know that may start some controversy but unless you have skied them at the right length after a good tune you just don't know. They had no problem on our east coast hard pack and ICE. My only mistake was taking them through a field of bumps at high speed and bent the tip.
