Keep looking for a picture of the Henke "Rebel". A higher end 3 buckle plasticized leather boot form around 71ish or so. It was red white & blue like everything else about then. It skied well but didn't hold up well. Think I went through 3 pairs that season.

That was the last leather boot I skied in.

One of the most diabolical torture devices since the inquisition. But they skied beautifully, from the 1972-73 ski season. Mine were foamed with a foam that was about as hard as soft-pink erasers.
I still have a scar on my left heel from these- but yes, you were definitely locked and dialed in
