SKIING Spring 1971

I attended that Red Lodge camp that year. I demoed a pair of the Hart race skis and like them so much I parked my K2 comps and skied the second half of the camp on the Harts,

I'm a much newer skier than most of you, so I don't have those memories or knowledge. But, at an EpicSki Academy in Stowe, maybe in 2008, I showed up on a pair of Auras. Seeing that my skis were too wide to learn proper technique, Bob Barnes put me on his Hart Javelin slalom skis so I could experience a true carving ski, and he skied my Auras. I remember him telling me to be careful on those things. Woo-hoo, that was a fun initiation to a high performance ski. I "think" it helped with my technique; at least I hope so!

I think that was the year that Tricia showed up skiing her F17's.

When Phil was a rep for Hart he got me a pair of F17's. I stupidly sold them a few years later when I needed to simplify my life, but then really regretted it. 2 years ago, I found another pair at a deep discount....a super fun ski not just for bumps, but for for playing around everywhere....light and snappy and very carveable.

I'm especially fond of the camo graphic.

(Refugee from EpicSki, hello fellow hart fans!). Picked up my third pair of vintage hart's today, 1978 hart express skis at 180cm, with 444's. Guy got them for a ski trip in the 70's, rode them for the trip, then never went back. Although a bit dirty from storage they're nearly like new!

Just remembered that my very first pair of skis were from the Hart Line named for chess pieces, mine were the Hart Castle. Probably from the early 70's.

I actually have one of those chess sets somewhere--inlaid board (that folded into a box for the pieces) and all. It came with my hart Knights, which I got when I was probably 15 or 16 years old.

I wonder where those skis are....

Best,
Bob
