Oh yeah. The Ski, Scott Boots, Spademans.

This is a good combination of ski, bindings and boots. What other combination from the past or present has made an impact as they did?

How did TheSki do across the pond???

Half the race team was on Stratos, then STs with Rotomats in 1977-79. Lots of K2s, 727Es and Nordica Comps in the early 80s. Just after that..SK's have to be the best selling race skis of all time. Every thrift store on town has a pair of them.

had a pair of those fischer super gt's in the picture above - total crap.
unloaded them as fast as i could.
although I don't think I disliked them as much as Scott boots on Spademan bindings, personally I found that a bad combo in anything approaching fresh snow
more a fault with the binding than the boot but once the plate was on it's what you had.
do not miss putting them on again in deep snow

While The Ski had The Racing Ski, it was never a serious contender. There was not a set up that was "integrated" as The Ski, Scott and Spademans. Yes, Rossignol probably sold more ST's in one month than Bobbie made of The Ski but they were seen equally with Salomon 727's, Marker M4-15's and Tyrolia 350's and the list of boots was even greater.

There will be a new (Scott) The Ski for 2019. Stay tuned. As soon as I am allowed to show them, I will.

This is one of the reasons why I like this community. We get to see what is coming from the manufactures before most of the public.:golfclap:

Couldn't walk away from The Ski Poles twice. They were still at the thrift store yesterday so I snagged them. A bit of an odd story. Looks like they got mismatched at some point and one was cut down to match the other at 48". I'd be interested in a swap if anyone has red or black and wants to trade for these fraternal twin whites..

It was no uncommon back in the day for a shop to get a miss matched pair.

Not surprising. I was thinking maybe husband and wife got matching skis and poles.. then one sold or got rid of theirs and mixed up the poles in the process.. When the mistake was discovered, obvious solution was to just cut down the longer of the two remaining poles.. Looks to be 2 inches.. Other pole was likely a 50"..

^^^^Looks like a can of black spray paint and some pretty easy masking tape work can make my The Ski white poles in to The Ski black poles.. Ya, it will chip off if I use them skiing a lot, but should be quite fine for display purposes.

I finally got out on some THE SKI's for the first time. I've passed along every other pair I've found to others on the list. This pair was pretty beat up but I only paid $15. They cleaned up well if you don't look too closely at them.

At first I couldn't get them to turn. I kept crossing the tails. then I realized I had forgotten to put the spoilers in my boots. this makes them have the same forward lean as my old XLR's. and I always use them for straight skis. I was up on the mountain and didn't want to go all the way down to the car. fourtunatly my daughter has some small knitted gloves in her pocket. I rolled each one up into a ball and stuffed them behind my calves. PRESTO! I could ski and turn these puppies like no tomorrow. Super fun easy turning skis.
