Yeah, just buy the Navigator 80.

I'm 179 cm tall and 179 lbs. I've been skiing the 172 cm Navigator 80 a bunch with our kiddos and love them. We've been skiing mostly blue bumps, trees, and groomers, along with a handful of black bumps and trees at Copper Mountain. They've been a great ski on all that terrain. Some proud dad pics:

I know the price the Navigator 80 makes them feel like they are not a real ski. Don't worry, they are.

They ski like an easy turning advanced/expert ski with a nice even flex that love short turns. They make skiing bumps easy and the bit of rocker makes them easy to smear and ski switch. Great, fun ski, regardless of the price.

Not to mention @SkiEssentials has the the Navigator 80 for $399 with bindings and $299 without. And that’s before the PugSki 10% discount.

Ok, I stopped at Powder House in Bend, OR. After skiing all day in Bachelor. They agreed with our list. Unfortunately, yesterday they sold the latest Navigator 80, and they didn't have the others. No luck at the hill either. I will keep looking, very likely after the trip. Most shops are liquidating inventory. It is what it is. I'll find one of these, eventually. Thank you all!

What size Navigator are you thinking of for your son? I saw a post somewhere from @Tony S that he wasn't wowed by the Navigator 85 in a 172 and was wondering if it might be too long as he's lighter like your son. So maybe 165? Again, I'm enjoying my 172 cm Navigator 80 at 179 lbs. Too long is no fun!

Late to the party, but your son is 17 yr old, I would look at @4FRNT Skis and Jski.

Also the Icelantic Nomad 95.

I bet @dean_spirito might have some good recommendations too.

I was thinking of the 172cm indeed. Mmm.

Been trying a few places here, no luck. Skiessentials has it in 179cm. We'll figure something outs. Thanks for the ideas @Dwight , 2. He is 16, turning 17 this summer.

Thank you all! I order the 172cm Navigator 80 with bindings included at a very good price by Level9. They should be home next week.

Btw, he's done really well today with his Powertracks in bumps (his favorite snow type :)

Today was the day. He finally had a less hectic weekend, and we came to Squaw. Endless season. Heavy powder overnight.

He absolutely LOVED them. Six weeks wtih no skiing at all. He clicked in and it was like if he had been on them forever.

We went, in 2 hours, from warming up in mild groomers, to mild glades, to Hidden Bowl off Granit Chief. Natural snow and offpiste are his friends now. In one day. Thank you so much y'all!
