I just saw this on the Colorado Mountain Bike Association's FB page and think it's somewhat interesting. It is adventure focused insurance that can be purchased for as little as one day, a week, a month, or a year. Payout goes directly to the insured so it could be used to help with deductibles, copays, and co-insurance in a traditional health plan.

This grew out of www.balanceforcyclists.com which you can get coverage at a monthly rate for various injuries. Lowest plan is $9.95 a month.

Not available for CA yet. But its definitely something I will keep on my radar. We use Aflac currently.
