Thanks for posting this and the 2024 Look comparison review. Found a “deal” $400 for 2022/23 demo Volkl Secret 96 /163 here at Killington. That was my fave ski from a personal demo day at A basin May 2022, so I have been on the lookout. Well the VT pair had Marker FTD TPX 12 binding. I’ve sworn off Marker Squires…click in issues. Was assured that these are Squire 12s and problem fixed. Well, I decided to search and on this thread learned these are not Squire 12s exactly and besides the heel issue, as Marker demos they have negative delta. I am working on stance and carve issues and pretty sure I need positive delta with long femurs, and maybe more than a mm or two for my BSL 285 . I demo’d today. They were not as natural feeling as 22/23 secret 96/163s I tried in CO. Those has Look SPX 12 demo bindings, not sure which model. Both setups seemed heavy in my hands but the Looks skied lighter. The Marker setup was tough on my ankles, fine for my knees interestingly. The ski was wonderful in crud as I remembered from A basin, but I had more than my usual trouble with the fall line on the steep and firm like Superstar and East Fall. I was more comfortable after I loosened the 2 middle buckles on my boots which weren’t esp tight, but still my ankles weren’t happy. So, I decided NOT to buy them despite the sunk cost of the demo day. No point having the right ski with the wrong binding. And now I know what negative delta feels like.

I recently had 2024 Squires put on a pair of skis. I am happy (happy happy happy) to report that the step-in issues with the non-TCX heel piece seem to be resolved. They were as easy to step into as any other binding I've ever owned. Easier than a Strive, in fact.
