So ...... late summer returns and all is for naught??

I mean, no body should get hyperventilated in September.

Flew into Sacramento from Salt Lake City this evening. The flight seems to follow I-80, something I had never noticed before. Anyway, it was beautiful flying over the Sierra Nevada and seeing the snowy peaks and Lake Tahoe. Flying above the American River Canyon was also spectacular.

Anyone else see mt Rose Instagram this morning? Trying to get open before the end of the month... Interesting.

They've had snow guns running for a few days and much of the upper mountain is white (seen from main lodge webcam). I don't think there's any depth to the coverage, but that it's there is really amazing given how early it is in the season. Still don't quite believe there'll be more than WROD at open, but am hoping to be totally wrong.

If I were a lawyer I'd be suing for a refund to my pass.
I'd call them and request a refund. Just to see what they say. After all, you purchased a pass with an expectation of parking like it has been. To change the rules after the purchase is a bit underhanded.

Looks like the free parking at the Castle Peak lot is a 1.3 mile distance or much too far to walk. Will make changing to that other pair of skis one stuck in their car a non event nor tailgating easily at lunch with spending too much time each way on the shuttle.

To be fair, changing skis would be a no-go for most of the parking there. The only good spots were near or on the hairpin turn when you could ski down Homerun and catch the Highlands Gondola back up. Even that is kind of slow. They could implement a carpool plan like some of the other resorts and at least give you a reason to group up to come up the hill.

To paraphrase The incredibles - "When every run is the worst run of the day, no run is" :roflmao:
As I told my old boss: If everything is a priority, then nothing is a priority. I'll get to it when I do.

So Tahoe folks - looking at an early season - say 2nd or last weekend in Dec. to Reno - how much territory do you think Mt. Rose might have open by then? What about T-giving weekend? Got to sneak it in around school and w@#k but can be a bit flex early or late in a given week. Can't beat the Casino lodging prices back in town! Flights on par with SLC (which would be closer, of course) but Utah can be a lot more for lodging if we stay up at the mountain.

Utah - could get away without a car but 3x or 4x the lodging price, or, get a car and drive to Snowbasin and PowMow. Vs. Reno Casino fun (heated pool anyone?) and drive up to Rose.

Decisions, decisions . . . I gotta spreadsheet this out :cool::daffy:

@Decreed_It Typically my first ski trip of the season (from the SF bayarea) is usually 2nd weekend of Dec. Favorite hill is usually Kirkwood because it's West slope of the Sierras and typically gets more snow. That said, Rose will be open, but it's in the rain/snow shadow. I would guess the greens (at the base of the mountain: Galena and Wizard lifts) and at least the popular blue run from the top of the hill, Kit Carson. If you're looking for steep and deep, early Dec isn't likely for Tahoe.
