Alonso on deck!

Times do not much matter at this point. More interested in what the teams are working on.

Having said that, it was interesting to see that McLaren could not take even 2 seconds away from Mercedes on soft tires while Mercedes had medium compound tires.

Yeah you can't really look just at the times. Have to gauge who is struggling..who is panicking..who is following the program with no issues.. McLaren must be extremely happy to be able to actually run their program without having 3 engine breakdowns a day. You never really know until Q3 in Australia....I would say hands down Mercedes is the team to beat. They won't have the problem they had last year when their suspension travel storage device was banned and they had to play catch-up all year to find more downforce and balance. They'll be starting on a more level field this time around. They did lose their fuel additive advantage though at the end of the year..

And Vandoorne is in the 19's...

He is fast, but as we all know, one thing is being fast in Q and another is being fast on race day. There is driving fast and then there is racing fast. Hope he is both!

I know these times don't mean much but seeing the merc at the top with mediums isn't making me happy. I love seeing the McLaren in second with 110 laps on ANY tire ogsmile

LOL, I missed that. I think we're on the same page.

I don't want to read too much into what happens now. These F1 guys are sneaky!

But yes, it was hard not to notice and it did make me wonder.

Day two of test two.

Those orange cars sure are pretty..... and have broken down on track at an alarming.....er....familiar rate.

I have to say I am taking this season off in protest of the HALO, looks like I'll be watching WEC, Indycar, and Moto GP instead.

Haas has been going pretty good the last couple of days. It'd be cool to see them move up a couple of rows.

Andddd...after wondering how the McLaren really looks..Alonso throws down a second fastest 1:17.78s lap to get within .5 sec of Ferrari. Dunno the tires..but that's pretty good...

SPOILER ALERT?
Was about to post quali results but perhaps not appropriate at this time.....

Haas best of the rest? It would be fun to see a spirited fight for fourth between say, Haas and McLaren:thumb:

Poor Haas. And Williams. Sirotkin foiled by a sandwich bag. Hey, at least Hamilton didn't win! Probably should have, but he'd had plenty of good fortune before this.
