"The proceeds from these ticket sales are being donated to the Tahoe Fund and will also be matched (up to $10,000)."

But ... but ... I thought they were evil :roflmao:
No, no it’s the other guys who are evil. The jury is still out on these guys. Let’s see if they extend midweek ops into June.
They are definitely scoring points, so I wouldn’t put them in the evil category just yet.

Didn't make it out today due to rain and poor visibility but it looks like we might get a decent window tomorrow from 8 to 12-1. Curious to see how the snow heald up from yesterday since we've seen quite a bit of rain last night into this afternoon. This weekend is definately looking unsettled.. image.jpeg image.jpeg

And that was my experience. Just stopped at 12: 20. Today was both end of season snow, and also, potentially, season ending snow.

The rain made the snow much heavier. I started with a warmup, bumped into @ScotsSkier suggested SunBowl. Reverse traverse and ... Money. Amazing run there, but then coming back down to mountain run I got into some sort of a gullie. Right of hour glass. It was crusty, heavy underneath, heavy everywhere. Caught an edge, one roll, got up and decided today is not a KT day.notfor me.had fun on granite, stopped for lunch and Patrol kicked me out. They were closimg for lightning. Oh well.

Sibo bowl, close to noon, was actually fun. But i superman'd a flat going back to the lift and decided to come down and head home. No upside in risking injury.

Some of the snow looked like avi debris. Big blocks of heavy sticky snow all over. Perhaps some of the pics below show that.

For those coming in the weekend, please note that the bottom of mountain run is now mostly dirt with a couple thin layers of slush, here or there.

@Mendieta, you've identified the Sunbowl dilemma. It has recently had some of the best snow on the mountain, but in order to get back you have to ski stuff that is more likely than not going to be not fun. And I similarly bit it and double ejected on the Sibo runout earlier this week. I mean, I know what happened: I didn't get my left ski on edge the same time as my right because of user error and heavier snow, and they crossed and I provided entertainment for those on the lift....

I'm surprised Sun Bowl is skiable again. I guess 32" will do it. :)

Just before the May snow, it was down to rocks and closed for a week or so.

Riding up Funi after 2nd Sunbowl lap...

I got 2 laps in Sunbowl this morning & it was about “as good as it gets corn” but there was a fine line in the timing. Funny cuz not too many days ago I was up there with a patroller & he told me it was done for the season. Some of my best runs this week have been in Sunbowl. The fact that reverse traverse was closed yesterday & many other off piste zones were probably close to unskiable allowed for a bit of a reset. The giant bumps are gone in many areas & even the West Face bumps look more tame than they were.
Nothing has had time to make a true transition, so depending on aspect & elevation there was a full array of conditions out there today & an expected quick switch from supportable to dangerous mank.

I agree with @Mendieta that it was probably not a KT22 day. However if we got into a real Spring cycle now, things would end up being better than before. Oh well, down to weekends only & no KT. Mountain run is about done at the bottom anyway but skied great up till about 9:30 this morning.

Did finally run into @Philpug @ScotsSkier & @AaronFM toward the end.
Against my better judgement, I finished down Mountain run & it was actually less sticky than it was at 10am. All in all another great ski day for me 8am till 12:30

Got out from 8:30 till about noon today and it was pretty freakin good. Did about 10 or 12 laps out RT fo headwall/hogsback/north bowl. Headwall face was beautiful smooth butter first thing. North bowl softened a little later and was good for the first few turns but there were way too many nonsense side hill traverse tracks cutting across the lower half. Got to love when the short uphill to headwall has a good kicked in bootpack making the hike super easy. Was kinda hoping for some palisades again today but it was all chundery from what looked like patrol having a pole whacking party to break apart the wet cornice from national all the way to main.

Did a couple Shirley groomers but it was all skied out by that time and choppy. Ramp run was actually really good, so much so that I did a GC back to the top to hit it again before heading down mountain run for a few KT laps. Definately not the greatest conditions on KT but figured I had to hit it in case the weather dosent cooperate over the next few days and that being my last chance.

Spotted the S.S. Pugski and who I'm guessing was @ScotsSkier (pugski stickers on helmet) laying down trenches under big blue on my ride up to Shirley.

Weather heald out for a definate surprising don't know unless you go kinda day.

Don’t think it was me Eric, didn’t ski Big blue. You are more likely to have seen me on hogsback/north bowl, skied it with mountainmike till it got sticky then went across to Shirley/5 th tree. Yellow USST jacket/ blue pants. May have been Dookey you saw on big blue, he was running drills there earlier

And yes, a surprisingly good day, nice to have some sunshine and visibility for the first time this week

anyone heading up tomorrow, if so what's the call? Made it up 1 week ago, roads at the top were sketchy but 100% glad we made the trip as it was one of the best days for us this year.

If I recall correctly that looks just like the forecast exactly 1 week ago, although it appears this snow fall may not start until early Sunday morning whereas last Sunday we hit the pass at 5:30AM with more snow covering the road than I have seen in a long while.

What’s with the lightning holds? The Squaw app
shows today starting and ending with lightning !
I believe they are not due to actual lightning. But rather to the fact that in late spring certain areas have suddwn lightning in storm conditions. So I was told by a patrol guy who politelybescorted me put of Granite the other day

There was actual lightening.
I'm not sure about California, but I know they go on lightening hold if there is lightening within 30 miles in Colorado

Edit to add In Colorado
