So glad I bailed and ended up skiing Loveland Pass. Once I saw that traffic heading down at 7:45, I said fuck it and hiked. Way more fun. Met some cool people up on the ridge.

I heard the ticket line was huge until at least 11 which suggest that not all the crowding was from Epic pass holders.

I enjoyed a less crowded day on Boreas pass. This was the same patch I skied last weekend. Much smaller but pretty good for being sun-cupped. Once down from the massive 350 foot hike and ski, we grilled and beered. @UGASkiDawg put his bird dog through its paces. Pretty impressive.

Good dogs scouting out the terrain. The Ten Mile range in the background.

The run down. We walked to the left to start skiing.

Chillin' and grillin'

Maxin' and relaxin'. The run is in the background. The large blob of rock near the top was the starting point for my descent.

The long and winding road...

So much fun earning turns instead of dealing with that clusterF.

Also pulled out the grille :)

Wow... is that heading up towards BML?

Yes, that is the trail from BML to Lenawee. The photo appears to have been taken from the lift. (Good work being ready with the camera while you were getting on, Matt)

...But still, I would have gone.

Honestly, that Lenawee pic isn’t that bad. My guess is the actual lift corral was small(ish) due to limited snow built up to keep it running.

Reality was you simply couldn’t get there if you tried to arrive after 7. People camped out all along the pass to hedge their bets, and I tried to commute because I was bringing my whole crew.

There’s no reason you couldn’t have done 4-5 runs, and Reveal was huge - if the snow was fast that’s a great skim. I do stupid shit all week long to pay my bills, this is hardly anything but good fun and comments on social media are positive about the great vibe. Hell, look closely and there are skiers off West Wall on July 4th.

I probably wouldn’t want to deal with my kids on a day like this, but just me I’d have stayed to close.

And of course, next time no Epic Pass.

I was there. It was super fun. Got a spot in the early riser lot just before 7. I think I just missed the horde. Went 2/3 on my Lake Reveal crossings. It was good vibes all around honestly and nobody was in a bad mood. Fun day.

^^This would be cool. I always wanted to ski this part of the mountain! You hit the traverse and look longingly down ... The only issue is that it IS lower altitude, and you don't get tons and tons of snow there, but a few weeks each year should be prime.

Oh, is this below the traverse we took out from Deception? Totally agree that it looks tasty!
