Oddly light traffic once we passed Idaho Springs this morning. Barely slowed down coming home.

It's beautiful in the front range, and no fresh snow after weeks of pounding. I'm guessing people are taking a breather.

Before. The view from my office landing last night.

On my second lap, going up. I like skinning up the directisma. My tracks are the furthest looker's left.

Enjoying a wonderful day of mild temps, sunshine and little wind.

I don't know why no one skis this pitch. It's not steep and usually has some great fresh snow. Today was no exception. The 4 to 5 inches of fresh from the past days was sitting on top of a sun crust that was fairly supportive. The fresh layer was easy to push and required careful pressure to keep from pushing it away too hard.

My canvas. Breck is looking pretty fine, too. There are barely any rocks or krummholz showing anywhere.

After. It will take some sun and/or warm temps to make that skiable again. The snow had developed some dampness that was going to set up hard, I think.

No one at Jones this afternoon. (I crossed paths with 2 snowmobilers and 4 snowshoers)

The snow was nice but again not easy to ski. Soft breakable crust with heavy pow under. The Sun/temps are JUST starting to affect east/west/south aspects even at high elevation. Above 11k it is still winter like for the most part.

I think this is the Avy that killed Hans. I am not sure. the crown looks gigantic. (its about 1,000 vert feet higher than where I took the pic)

Oh, I forgot. Yesterday morning we arrived at Copper quite early so we sat in the car for awhile before getting booted up. We watched 2 guys make espresso in a Bialetti style espresso maker. I was quite impressed and need to figure out how to add this to my routine.

Biolite, jetboil, and msr all have French press accessories if you already have one of those systems.

Oh hell, I have that french press accessory. But I think I'm more intrigued by the espresso.
Other option would be an Aeropress. Hot water, ground coffee, and some elbow grease.

Gas stove and the Bialetti would be more convenient with fewer things to pack, carry, and clean. Kettle and espresso maker in one

Stunning weekend out there. Copper Sat/Breck Sunday. Both skied great and crowds were low for a weekend. Lake Dillon this morning was gorgeous.

Oh look at all the excuses :P. There’s a bunch of snow piled up because the car became a snow fence once it was stuck.

I dragged my frame through this entire pic. The tracks look like that because it was crab walking and kept sliding off the road. I had to go back in and pull out a Tundra that shouldn’t have followed.

This is what proper traction looks like when there is no snow on snow traction.

Went to Copper today, late morning so all of the people who leave mid-day would be gone. Had to park in the (B)FE lot. Lift lines weren't bad. Trails weren't too crowded. Drive home? 3.5 hours, twice the normal time, mostly due to a couple of accidents. Ugh. Think I'll stick to weekdays for the rest of the season.
