I leave AZ and it goes nuclear opening week....don't rush to thank me :)

Thank you sir for your fine contribution.

If it makes you feel any better I crashed yesterday and screwed up my back/ribs pretty good. Twisting my upper torso today has me in extreme pain. I think it’s just muscular and hopefully it works itself out quickly.

I ended up rolling around in one of those thorn bushes on the bottom of Casino during opening day. Did some nice damage to my skis too. I like the liberal opening policies so I don't complain when I eat it on rocks or mess up my skis.

We are heading to Taos in January and would like to hit Snowbowl for a couple of days since we have never been there. How crowded is it on weekdays?

Weekdays can be like a ghost town. Midweek storm days are my favorite. Let me know when/if you come through. If I’m around and the snow is decent I’ll give you the tour.

And if conditions suck, we have the Agassiz Social Lounge, one of my most favorite bars in the ski world!

We are planning to ski there Jan 23 and 24 on our way to the mini gathering in Taos. We love Flagstaff but have always been summer visitors in the past.

nice! If you tour the back country can be very fun and the snow pack is generally much more manageable than the San Juans or Sangre De Cristos.

Forecast totals holding steady.

General snow accumulations are as follows: 3 to 10 inches from
4500 to 6000 feet, with 10 to 24 inches above 6000 feet. Localized
snow amounts near 40 inches are possible over the highest
mountain peaks. Lesser amounts of snow are forecast across far
northeast Arizona, but hazardous travel conditions, such as through
Buffalo Pass, are likely. Winter Storm Watches remain in effect
from Thursday afternoon through Friday evening.

ADOT is considering closing I17 forty miles south of Flagstaff, and parts of I40 in preparation of the storm. So plan your travel accordingly.

looks like I was right. I-17 closed and crashes south of the closure. Hope someone gets this powder! 12+ on the Snotel so far.

It kind of blew by Durango - at least given the forecast. A few inches on the ground at 7,500'. Lots of thinder, lightning, wind, weather drama. Little in accumulation though.
