Round 2 incoming next week? Yes please.

Another cutoff low is parking off the Southern
California coast where it will sit until another deep trough
descends out of the Gulf of Alaska Tuesday for a near repeat of
this week`s wet weather beginning as early as Wednesday morning.
Pressure gradients increase Monday through Wednesday with breeze
southwest winds increasing through the period. Currently this
system looks to start warm with mostly rain below 8000 ft and snow
levels dropping below 6500 ft at some point, but there is little
agreement and low confidence on when that may happen. If the cold
air arrives early, there will be more snow, and if it comes late,
there will be less.

Looks better than I thought it would. Thanks for sharing @Core2 . And the crowd is just as awful as I thought it would be too! I'm going to give it a week or two before going up there. Mostly for my sanity and safety.

Even with the big lines I don't think I waited more than 10 or 15 mins. The six pack chair eats up lines. I think with the amount of passes they are selling and social media the crowds are just going to be something we have to get used to. Get there earlier, find the runs people aren't hitting and have some patience are the only solutions. Snowbowl isn't the only area dealing with this and in the end the crowds mean good things due to revenue.

PS, Sunrise opening today with Sunrise Peak and 26" of fresh. Another option for avoiding crowds maybe?

You know, the long lift lines don't bother me. I enjoy seeing people out having a great day on the snow. Even the food lines can be backed up and I still know that Snowbowl is being supported, despite the poor offerings on the menu. I always arrive at least an hour before the lifts open. Nothing wrong with snagging a primo parking spot ! What I don't care for are the number of people jostling for skiable real estate on the runs making my own efforts more about navigating than skiing. My husband usually heads for the trees, so he's good regardless. I suppose I could go up early next week just to make a few turns...beats sitting at my desk right?

When it’s real busy and there’s only a few runs open I often can’t relax and enjoy myself. It’s just too dangerous. I try not to be up there when it’s like that or if there’s enough snow I’ll go tour in the back country.

It really wasn't as bad as the picture makes it look. I lapped the GCE early for several runs and never waited more than 10/15 minutes. Later in the morning I headed over to Hart Prairie and pretty much rolled straight on for a few more runs.

The snow pack on the groomers is fantastic, but Casino and Volcano are a little bare in the troughs between the bumps.

My only complaint would be the straightlining snowboarders, who seem to have no concept of sharing the runs in a safe way. Hopefully I can disappear into the trees soon. maybe after the next storm.

.

I would imagine so, that was only a 22 or 25 inch storm and there wasn’t anything before it. I saw pictures of people skiing lower gully even! That’s a bit crazy to me but I’m a bit of a safety nazi when it comes to thin cover and skiing where there’s dead fall and stumps.

I got out yesterday for a few runs and some beach time. Volcano to Lava was fun, I’d skip the bottom pitch of volcano, it’s thin with lots of big rocks. Bowl Side was a bit scary but the snow was really good.

Coverage overall is incredible for pre-Thanksgiving. Another storm will put us in a pretty good place.

I've been looking at the AZ Snowbowl NOAA forecast for years and I don't think I've ever seen them throw out a 24 inch in one night prediction. Storm should be an interesting one.

Thursday Night
Snow. The snow could be heavy at times. Low around 22. Breezy. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 18 to 24 inches possible.

I sampled this years menu offerings at hart prairie lodge yesterday. They are trying to upgrade their food which is nice. They simplified the menu and got rid of those crappy wonder buns. Everything is on briloche buns now and they even were toasting them on the flat top. They’ve got skinny McDonalds-Esque fries now too which I liked. They even had a nice looking grilled cheese sandwich you can order at the pizza window.

Last year they over complicated the menu at Agassiz and the line would get really backed up. You think after doing lodge food for what, 75+ years they’d have this all figured out. Oh well, at least they are trying. It will be interesting to see if lodge f&b managers can keep the staff on point with the new standards or if it will slowly just head back to where things were.
