Hmmm... what is a day? I always wondered. Everyone seems to have a different measure of what constitutes a day. 1 run (backcountry) 1 run lift, 5 runs and on and on. If someone skis all day for 100 days versus someone skis 5 runs for 100 days, are they the same?

1 backcountry day is at least 2 left turns and 2 right turns. You can choose the shape of your turn.

And it's-

I'm calling my season - managed to hit 50, and it's my highest number of days. Only possible thanks to this long long season we had at Tahoe.

My days-
  • Ikon - 19 (Squaw 12, Alpine 6, Mammoth 1)
  • Powder Alliance - 15 (Sierra 14, Sugar Bowl 1)
  • Diamond Peak - 15
  • Mt. Rose - 1
Awesome to end with hike up to Palisades and skiing down National & Hogsback

I'm probably done as Mammoth sounds like it is more limited this week than last, but another day or two is always possible.
No new ski areas for me, will try to change that next season.

Season total = 65 days which beats previous high of 56 last season (and 52 the two preceding years).

Almost 1.4M vertical. If I’d known I was only 1,700 short, I might have taken a couple of quicks laps on Mammoth’s chair 3 on 7/3. Three days over 30K; two at Northstar plus a powder day at Snowbird. Monthly totals: Nov 3, Dec 6, Jan 10, Feb 14, Mar 19, Apr 10, Jul 3

Tahoe Local Pass 34 days - Kirkwood 14, Heavenly 13 (includes 2 days that I also skied Mammoth), Northstar 5, Park City, Stevens Pass gave me half-off

Ikon Base Pass 27 days - Mammoth 6 (2 with Heavenly), Altabird 5, Squalpine 4, Big Sky 3, JHMR 3, Crystal 2, Brighton 2, Deer Valley and Revelstoke

Mustang Powder 3 days catskiing

Day tickets at Ashland (OR) 1/2 day PM on President’s Day, Apex (BC)

Free ticket from ski show used at Sierra-at-Tahoe

I'm likely done also. I skied Squaw Sunday June 7 -closing day. I was surprised how fast they lost snow in past 2 weeks
But never say never till the snow melts as Mammoth is still open!

I didn't keep track. Probably got to 50 days. My $150 S senior season pass from Sierra Tahoe got me 3 days at Sugarbowl and 2
at Bridger Bowl Mt. Even skied one day on general principle at Sierra Tahoe though I didn't need to.

How was Mt Ashland ? Being older than dirt I can ski free at Mt Ashland. May ski it next year. !

I had a great half-day at Ashland, even though it was President's Day. They reported 7" new and 34" in last 7 days. While Ashland is only 1,150 vertical and has no fast lifts, it is steeper than ski area on Mt Shasta. It's also less than 10 miles off I-5 so it has worked twice for me to break up long drive between CA and WA.

My reports from this year and 2016 are posted on firsttracks. Note that Ashland is usually closed Tuesday and Wednesday. They have had some poor recent years (see snowfall for 2013-14 and 2014-15) and have no snowmaking.

Just wanna say that I had that same CB shell. Those Scott pole grips too for a short period. Although I skied Rossignol & Lange during that era I think I was on Fischer & Dynafit by the time of the Teal Rossi's & Pink Panther Langes were in vogue.

From around that era...

I think June 22nd was my last day. I’m calling it 155 even though it was probably 157 but I kinda lost track toward the end.

Day 63 skiing with all of Colorado at Arapahoe Basin: July 4, 2019. Look at those cars along the highway!

Just like skiing last day in the Midwest a few years ago -- only much, much longer. ...and higher (in more ways than one).
