Day 50! And a whole 2 weeks earlier than last season! Especially great because it was a powder day!!

Day 5 yesterday at Snowmass, day 6 at Highlands today. Fresh snow and a lot of fun. Saw the elusive Bob Barnes and took a few runs with Weems. Tired and sore!

Snowbird.. marginal to poor conditions.(imho) Only 44 trails open and 1 black with thin coverage! Way too many out of control boarders/skiers for me, rocks, sticks, on the bump runs, top windy, socked in and too many beginners going up.. Was Scary seeing Ski patrol very busy picking up the injured- combat/survival skiing. Need more snow and more terrain.

Quinze — Finally some crowds at Sunapee, though, because of the cold, they were mostly inside. Parking out to the third lot for the first time I've seen this season. What's with MLK?

Last Friday's deluge had decimated that beautiful, 100% open terrain — now 20 trails down from the height of 66. Bonanza was closed, with ugly upwellings of ice and some nasty washouts. Remaining surfaces were ok until scraped off, then pure white ice. Not especially pleasant. It'll get better this week, though.

I had my yearly review this morning and the only "negative" my boss gave my was not taking the shop pass out more often. I laughed and said "so you're saying that patience is a bad thing?"
