Looks cool, love the paintings. I'm usually staying right downtown Denver for a week or two each year, I'll check it out next time and I love the train and transit system in Denver, takes me everywhere. The cycling and walking trails are pretty extensive too )

I stunk at taking photos yesterday. I did get some of the next generation, excited to ski as a family! And then ... somehow @coskigirl and I got Chair 1 again when riding up Pali. I think that was 2 for 2 in 2 days? Mildly interesting.

I didn't get chair 1 on Pali, but I did feel like a winner hanging with my friends, old and new.

Thanks everyone for the fun, the sharing and the camaraderie.

Looks lots like a Taos skier.
Guess Andrew and I rubbed off on him. :D
Yes, thanks for the bump clinic. Very fun.

Basically, the style uses very little energy. You use momentum and gravity to do most of the work. You do have to commit. The goal for me at least was seeing how little energy I could use to ski the bumps. You essentially use the shape of the bump to go up, then teeter at the top and fall down with gravity. The great thing is it gives you time to look at the line you will take. It also can be scaled up in speed. You can start very slow, establish a flow, then speed it up. That seems to be more beneficial than just jumping in at the ending speed.
It was stated the technique was for steep bumps, like in Palli, but we made them demo it on a regular bump trail, Ramrod. It works there too.

Some years ago at ESA in Big Sky we were skiing bumps with Mermeer Blakeslee. She espoused at one point a similar technique. This trail had big round bumps. We were stopped and she pointed out a line to take with her pole and said, "Look, ride the wire to the cleavage."

We can now have a 12 pg thread on how "that's not really bump skiing". But, these people ski bumps all day long. They have a serious bump problem. Likely they'll bump trail most people into the lodge unless you adopt a similar technique.

On the way home we encountered a variety of strange clouds and some thunder/lightening.

My watch kept nagging me to stand up. Like sitting in the car for 8 hrs is not healthy or something.

While we were in Colorado @Rainbow Jenny sent us a picture of our Iris blooming.

I wish!

He was a young kid, in his 20s, that bought the ambulance about a year ago for 10k. He spent last summer (didn't work on it much during the winter...skiing took priority) and had just finished it up the week before. He out about another 5k into it.

Fully insulated. Wood burning stove with appreciate venting and kitchenette that had the propane source from the outside storage area where the oxygen tanks would be kept. The couch/table converts to a bed. He set up a climbing wall with riveted metal rings to be able to get to the top into the box. He was going to take it to Moab for an inaugural trip.

Smart kid.

There was a secret converted ambulance that showed up. This one, however, was the party rig in comparison. Two bench couches, a middle table, cabinets with a lot of booze and a disco ball on the ceiling.

First of all, Great pics!
Second, don't worry about not knowing screen names vs real names, that happens to me all the time and you know Dave as Dave IRL, and
@UGASkiDawg isn't real intuitive.

This pic is priceless

Thank you for giving my the kind look and friendly smile on the last day when I was on sensory overload.
What a great week! I think you were the only person who was with us all week long, so much fun!
:yeah:

As for @James the baker; holy crap he made a lot of great bread, the croissants were incredible too.
The only problem I had was that I wanted to make a peanut butter and honey sandwich one day and I wasn't sure I could do that to his delicious bread. I did, and it was the best PB&H EVER!

I only have 3 pics from the whole trip. Colorado is awesome.
Next time, I promise that you'll see my bases in any pics or video of me "dropping" a cornice. Haha.
Big thanks to @James, @mdf, @Lady_Salina, and @Old boot for the tips and encouragement. What fun people to ski with.

This guy was super friendly and had the right spirit. He reminded me of an overgrown Cabbage Patch doll.
I hope he won:

For those of you who got on demos at A-Basin, I would greatly appreciate it if you would write a short 1-2 paragraph review, including a "Who is it for?" and "Who it is not for?" The "Insider tip" is optional.

Philpug: Last time I got on the Speed Zone 12 Ti was when it was first released a few years back, so instead of regurgitating that review, I felt it would suit the community better if I wrote a new one because perceptions can change. Well, that wasn't the case with the Speed Zone 12 Ti. The ski is all I remember and more. In this segment, where there are a lot of new contenders, the Speed Zone is the old man -- but that doesn't hold it back, it will go up against all with its age and wisdom. The dampening that Dynastar puts in between the core and the sidewall really does make a difference: it is not just fancy words on the topsheet; you can feel how silky the 12 reacts on the snow.
  • Who is it for? Stronger skiers who like a few extra o’s in their smooth.
  • Who is it not for? Those who demand catlike quickness in every turn; it’s there, but you have to work for it.
  • Insider tip: Tip it and rip it.
