  1. Kulkea’s Kantaja Double Roller Ski Bag

Review: Kulkea’s Kantaja Double Roller Ski Bag

Let’s start with Kulkea (cool-kee-ah). I currently carry the Kulkea SP Pro boot bag (review here) and many friends carry Kulkea bags of some sort, so I have been around the brand a good bit. Most of my trips are via air travel so my luggage takes a beating. I’ve had multiple other ski cases...

    Skis on Amtrak

I’m looking to go to Killington for a few midweek days in January. I’m in NYC and carless so Amtrak from NYC to Rutland then bus/car service seems to make financial and practical sense. Just 3 ski days so I’ll pack light and bring my single ski bag but I wonder where it would go on the train...

How far away from a ski resort would you be willing to live?

For me, I’d say maybe 3.5 to 4 hrs— SF Bay Area distances. It has to be within a reasonable driving distance for a day trip.

Ski Boots fit under an airline seat?

I don't fly enough to visualize -- would a pair of ski boots, unbagged, fit under an airline seat? I'm thinking not, but I must have dropped too much acid back in the hippy days, because I can't recall for the life of me. I snapped up a too-cheap-to-ignore, non-stop ticket from Philadelphia to...

Inspired by @va_deb ’s thread Who else over packs for a destination ski trip? GEEZ, we way over did it on our trip to Utah But... @Mrs. 53 failed to realize we had a washer and drying in our accommodation. I could have packed 1/3-1/2 less. We discussed it yesterday, we might be able to...

    About Ski Carriers...

*Comments welcome from anyone, not only folks who travel for skiing. Bonus Qs: If you used to prefer one type but have switched to a different type, what made you switch? Do you prefer a different carrier if you are traveling by air with more than one set of skis?

    Those that travel to ski..

Seems like lodging has had a pretty steep increase in pricing this year? What are you seeing - admittedly have waited to book so have missed some of the discount windows - ie. "4th night free" or whatever - but Lord, the standard rates look up about 20%. The Dow to blame?

    Skiing Goals

What were/are they and how have they changed over time? For me, I was always going to ski Outer Limits some day. I did it this past season (2016-2017), both groomed and ungroomed. Now I'm not sure what's up next. And go...
